Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB) today announced the appointment of Darko Dejanovic as vice president and chief technology officer, effective immediately. Dejanovic will oversee technology strategy, development and operations for Tribune, one of the country’s top media companies, operating businesses in broadcasting and publishing.

“Darko’s knowledge and experience with our company make him well-suited to oversee our technology operations,” said Dennis FitzSimons, Tribune chairman, president and chief executive officer. “He will be a great asset in coordinating our broadcast, publishing, interactive and corporate office technology systems.”

Dejanovic was promoted to vice president/chief technology officer for Tribune Publishing in 2002, responsible for overseeing the technology strategy, development and operations for the company’s 14 daily newspapers. He continued serving as vice president/chief technology officer for Chicago Tribune Company — a role he was appointed to in 1999. In that capacity he directed all strategic and operational technology activities for Chicago Tribune and its affiliated publications.

Dejanovic joined Tribune Company in 1997 as technology director for Sun Sentinel Company in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. As Sun-Sentinel’s senior technology officer, he was responsible for the management, development and support of all systems, infrastructure and applications.

“I’m looking forward to helping strategically position Tribune to expand the use of our IT assets to deliver news and information across our businesses,” said Dejanovic.
