Southeastern Conference Football to be Broadcast Saturdays This Fall on WDCW-TV
DC50, The CW in Washington DC, will be the exclusive broadcast outlet of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) football games starting on Saturday, September 1st at noon for thirteen consecutive weeks. As a partner of ESPN Regional Television, WDCW began broadcasting SEC sports last February as DC’s broadcast affiliate for SEC Basketball. The first SEC football game on DC50 will be Buffalo at Georgia, at 12 noon. The next weekend, September 8th, DC50 will be airing a double-header featuring East Carolina at USC at noon; followed by West Kentucky at Alabama (SEC’s defending college national champions) at 3:30pm. On September 15th, University of Louisiana at Auburn will be the featured game at 12 noon. Specific game details will be posted on DC50tv.com 10 days in advance of broadcasting throughout the college football season.
“Broadcasting SEC football in the Washington DC market really fills a major void for college football fans who have been seeking ways to watch these games,” said Ashley Messina, Vice President and General Manager of DC50. “SEC is the premier conference in college football. We have SEC basketball in the winter, MASN/Nationals baseball in the spring and summer and now SEC football in the fall. We’re excited to continually be building our distinctive sports presence for local viewers.”
Established in 1932, SEC participates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is one of the founding members of the Bowl Championship Series. It’s participating schools include: University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, Auburn University, University of Florida, University of Kentucky, Louisiana State University, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, University of Missouri, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt. The conference currently sponsors twenty one team championships: twelve women’s sports and nine men’s sports.
