WGN-TV to Air “The Arlington Million”
WGN-TV Chicago and WGN America will provide live HD coverage of “The Arlington Million” from Arlington Park Racetrack on Saturday, August 18 from 5-6pm CT. The encore replays on CLTV on the same night from 8-9pm CT.
The one-hour telecast will also include the live running of the Grade I $750,000 Beverly D. Stakes plus highlights from the Grade I $500,000 Secretariat Stakes and the $400,000 American St. Leger Stakes which will have been run earlier in the day. Hosted by WGN’s Dan Roan and longtime Chicago sportscaster Arlington Park’s Howard Sudberry, the broadcast team will be joined by former Blackhawks player and Blackhawks television analyst Eddie Olczyk.
Leading up to “The Arlington Million,” the post position draw will take place at the WGN-TV Studios and will be seen live on “WGN Midday News” on Wednesday, August 15.
“The Arlington Million” is a grand celebration drawing horses, owners, trainers, jockeys, and fans from every corner of the world. The highlight of the racing day is the renowned “Arlington Million,” one of the world’s great horse races. “The Arlington Million” is a Grade 1 race for thoroughbred horses aged three years and up. It is raced over a distance of 1.25 miles on the turf at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, IL. It was introduced in 1981.
