This summer “SportsWeek with LaVar Arrington,” WDCW-TV’s weekly, locally-produced, sports program will be shot on location at two local bars: Caddies and Barcode. The show will also be shot on location at the Washington Nationals Park on June 19^th and July 17^th.

“SportsWeek” is broadcast on WDCW-TV, DC50, the CW in Washington, on Thursday at midnight and Sunday at 12:30pm. This weekly magazine program hosted by LaVar Arrington with a guest host, explores current sports related issues. It also covers local sports human interest stories.

“Being on location gives ‘SportsWeek’ a distinctive, compelling and exciting edge every week,” said Ashley Messina, Vice President and General Manger on WDCW-TV. “LaVar also genuinely enjoys meeting his fans and local sports enthusiasts.” SportsWeek host, LaVar Arrington is a former linebacker for both the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. After playing college football at Penn State and becoming a two-time All-American, Arrington was drafted as an overall second pick in 2000 to play for the Washington Redskins. Throughout his 7 seasons in the NFL, he was a three-time All-Pro selection and three-time Pro-Bowl selection. He is currently co-host on the WJFK radio show LaVar and Dukes.

The two bars hosting “SportsWeek” shootings are: Caddies located at 4922 Cordell Avenue, in Bethesda, MD and Barcode located at 1101 17th St NW in Washington, DC.  Caddies on Cordell was a Best Sports Bar finalist last year and is particularly known for its golf theme. Barcode the 2012 Diners’ Choice Winner 2012 on Opentable.com will host four of the upcoming SportsWeek shootings. The remaining two SportsWeek shoots will be taking place at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals, located at 1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, DC.
