WGN News to Present Severe Weather Week

WGN is declaring the week of April 30 – May 5 as Severe Weather Week. All week long on WGN News, WGNtv.com, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, WGN will feature stories, activities and events about severe weather utilizing the power of the WGN weather team, including:
- Severe weather tip of the day every day during the WGN Midday News.
- All week long on Twitter, viewers will be invited to join the conversation by using the hashtag #WGNSevereWeather
- On Monday, Tom Skilling will interview Ed Fenelon, head of National Weather Service in Chicago, on the WGN News at 5.
- On Tuesday, Paul Konrad will host a live Facebook chat at 9am right after the WGN Morning News at Facebook.com/WGNMorningNews
- On Thursday and Friday on WGN News at Nine, Tom Skilling will have special reports, including new information about lightning safety and the state of emergency preparedness of local schools.
- The week culminates with “Tom’s Weather Day,” on Saturday May 5, 2012 from 11am – 2pm at the Walgreens on 235 Palatine Road in Arlington Heights. Viewers will have a chance to meet Tom Skilling. A WeatherBug Weather Station will be onsite at the event, where a representative will be available to interact with guests and explain how the WeatherBug station works. And the Arlington Heights fire department will bring their severe weather tornado simulator truck to the event and show guests how to take precaution during a severe storm.
