Station tops ratings leading into Cubs baseball season

The February Arbitron radio ratings released today show tremendous growth for WGN Radio’s morning show year-over-year in the key 25-54 demo, propelled by Jonathon Brandmeier’s addition to the line-up this past December. Among listeners 25-54 5:30-9am, Brandmeier ranks fifth with a 4.2 share, up 91% from 2.2 in February 2011.

WGN Radio also ranks first among overall listeners 12+ Mon-Sun 6am-12am for the second straight month, delivering a 5.7 share, up 12% from February 2011. In afternoon drive, Garry Meier showed similar strength, ranking first 12+ 3-7pm with a 6.0, up 33% from February 2011.

WGN’s number one showing in January and again in February 12+ Mon-Sun 6am-12am are the first times WGN has ranked number one in any non-baseball months in PPM history – and for several years before PPM existed.
