PIX11 News to Air “The Parent Handbook” February 6-10 – Advocacy Week Aims to Help Families Through All Stages of Parenting
Wish your kids came with instructions? Peer pressure, risky behavior and the increasing use of technology make parenting an extremely difficult job. Knowing where to draw the line with your child while keeping open lines of communication can be a challenge. Beginning Monday, PIX11 Morning News will be airing a week-long initiative to help guide families through the different stages of parenting, with segments airing Monday, February 6th through Friday, February 10th in the 7am and 8am hours.
Each day during “The Parent Handbook” week will be dedicated to a singular topic, presented by a panel of experts and PIX11 News’ anchors and reporters (all parents themselves.)
Topics include:
MONDAY: BEFORE THE BIRTH
Beyond buying the car seat and painting the room, PIX11 News will help expectant parents become educated parents. (Frances Rivera)
TUESDAY: WARNING SIGNS – AT ALL AGES
Alcohol, drugs, bullying, sexual activity and web safety…when to worry about your tweens and teens, when to act, and when to seek outside assistance. (Sukanya Krishnan and Dr. Balter)
WEDNESDAY: I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND
How to navigate communication and discipline in the adolescent and late teen years, with E.D. Hill, author of “I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent: Helping Your Children Set the Boundaries They Need…and Really Want” (Dr. Steve)
THURSDAY: HEALTHY HABITS
From eating and sleeping to exercise, PIX11 News will explain how to set healthy habits early.
