Public caroling to feature Chicago Blackhawks, Jim Cornelison and other local celebrities Thursday, December 15th at Pioneer Court
Will benefit the WGN Radio Neediest Kids Fund
WGN Radio and Chicago-based independent advertising agency Schafer|Condon|Carter are partnering to present “Carols for Kidssm,” a live event and radio broadcast taking place Thursday, December 15th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., to raise money for the WGN Radio Neediest Kids Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund. The event, which will take place in Pioneer Court, directly outside of the WGN Radio studios at 435 N. Michigan Avenue, will feature community caroling, plus live entertainment from a cast of guest and celebrity carolers.
During Thursday’s lunch hour, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Chicagoans are encouraged to join WGN Radio and Schafer|Condon|Carter staff members for a mass caroling event. The second hour of the event will be broadcast live on WGN Radio with host John Williams and include carols and entertainment from Chicago Blackhawks national anthem singer Jim Cornelison and forward Daniel Carcillo, the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, WGN Radio’s Orion Samuelson and more. Donations to the Neediest Kids Fund will be accepted on-site during the event and online at www.SCCCarolsForKids.org. Lou Malnati’s will also be providing slices of pizza for all attendees for a suggested donation of $3 per slice.
“Carols for KidsSM” is a holiday program established in 2010 by Schafer|Condon|Carter as a company initiative to raise money for a local charity in lieu of sending their clients holiday gifts. The agency’s 75 employees caroled in front of the WGN Radio Showcase Studio on Michigan Avenue, raising nearly $10,000 for the WGN Radio Neediest Kids Fund from pedestrians, clients and listeners.
“We hope to take this event to the next level this year and raise a significant amount of money for this incredibly worthy organization,” said Schafer|Condon|Carter CEO, Tim Condon. “In this time of need for so many families, we believe this is truly in the Holiday spirit. Our entire staff, as well as our clients and partners support us in our efforts, and we hope to have many of them joining us on Michigan Avenue for the event.”
“We are so pleased that Schafer|Condon|Carter used its creativity to come up with this wonderful concept and chose the WGN Radio Neediest Kids Fund as its beneficiary,” said Tom Langmyer, Vice President and General Manager, WGN Radio. “We look forward to working with them to continue to raise money for the WGN Radio Neediest Kids Fund and help children all over Chicagoland.”
