Dina Bair Named Co-Anchor of WGN Midday News
Dina Bair has been named as co-anchor of WGN Midday News effective immediately, according to Greg Caputo, WGN-TV news director. In addition to her anchor duties, she will continue as WGN Medical Watch reporter.
“Dina has been filling in on this broadcast for several months this year and last. During that time, she has shown her ability to be comfortable and engaging in both the hard news segments as well as the feature segments that are a hallmark of the broadcast,” commented Greg Caputo, WGN news director. “She has hosted dozens of WGN programs and news specials and represented the station well to the medical community in Chicago.”
Bair joined WGN-TV as a full-time general assignment reporter in September 1994. She anchored the WGN Weekend Morning News from December 1994 to December 1999. Bair came to WGN-TV from CLTV in Oak Brook where she was an anchor and reporter. Prior to CLTV, she worked at WHOI-TV in Peoria as an anchor, reporter and producer. Dina also worked at WMAQ-TV in Chicago as a field producer.
Dina Bair is the recipient of numerous awards including five Emmy awards, a Peter Lisagor award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and multiple Associated Press awards for both anchoring and reporting. Originally from the East Coast, Bair received her B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University in Evanston. She is active in many charities including The National Italian American Foundation, The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, The American Lung Association, and the Lymphoma, Leukemia Societies, Muscular Dystrophy Association, LUNGevity, Respiratory Health Association, American Cancer Society, and Imerman Angels.
