PIX11’s Emmy Award winning News department is pleased to announce the addition of PIX11 News at 5, a 60-minute early-evening broadcast which will debut on Monday, September 12th.
PIX11 News at 5 (available in HD) will be anchored by Jodi Applegate, who also helms the station’s innovative PIX11 News at Ten, with Mr. G forecasting weather. PIX11 News at 5 will also feature familiar faces from PIX11’s AM & PM News broadcasts as PIX11 increases our presence as New York’s only independent news organization. PIX11 News at 5 will target the female audience looking for a fresh approach to news with a newscast that reflects their busy work and home schedule, with an emphasis on mothers who are seeking a newscast that better relates to their lives.
“The remarkable viewer support Jodi Applegate and the PIX11 team have enjoyed at this past year at 10 o’clock was all the encouragement we needed to expand our late news into the afternoon. We will be mindful that women are on the go at 5pm and make sure it is worth their time to watch,” said Bill Carey, PIX11 News Director.
PIX News at 5 is the latest addition to PIX11’s new fall schedule, which includes:
3-3:30pm Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers (beginning 9/19, hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky)
3:30-4pm Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers
4-5pm Anderson (beginning 9/12, hosted by Anderson Cooper)
5-6pm PIX11 News at 5
“With an afternoon lineup of Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers at 3pm and Anderson at 4pm, we are confident PIX11 News at 5 has the strongest news lead-in in the New York market, and we are excited to expand our local news coverage and serve our viewers with the addition of the 5pm broadcast,” said Eric Meyrowitz, PIX11 Vice President/General Manager.
