WGN-TV To Air “The Arlington Million” For First Time Ever
WGN-TV Chicago and WGN America will provide live HD coverage of “The Arlington Million” from Arlington Park Racetrack on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 5:00-5:30 p.m. CT. The encore replays on CLTV on the same night from 8:00-8:30 p.m. “The Arlington Million” will be hosted by WGN’s Dan Roan and Arlington Park’s Howard Sudberry.
The Arlington Million is a grand celebration drawing horses, owners, trainers, jockeys, and fans from every corner of the world. “We are thrilled to be adding the Arlington Million to our WGN Sports lineup,” commented Marty Wilke, VP/General Manager of WGN-TV and CLTV. “This broadcast will continue to strengthen our station as we produce and air more live LOCAL sports programming than any other broadcast station in the Chicago area.”
The highlight of the racing day is the renowned “Arlington Million,” one of the world’s great horse races. “The Arlington Million” is a Grade 1 race for thoroughbred horses aged three years and up. It is raced over a distance of 1.25 miles on the turf at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, IL. It was introduced in 1981.
