Contest to feature six Chicago Blackhawks
WGN Radio, the official radio broadcast home of Chicago Blackhawks hockey, will air the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, live from the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday, January 30. Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews of the Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks have all been selected to play along with 38 other all-stars from throughout the league. Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. CT with John Forslund and Aaron Ward providing the play-by-play and color commentary.
A new format for this year’s festivities will see the conference vs. conference approach replaced by a player draft to determine the rosters for each team. Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane has been selected as an alternate captain and will help with the team selection process during the All-Star Player Fantasy Draft on Friday night. Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville and assistant coach Mike Haviland will also team as coaches for one of the All-Star teams on Sunday.
In addition to the live broadcast on WGN-AM 720, listening is also available online at wgnradio.com/listen and on mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, BlackBerry and Droid. Details at wgnradio.com/mobile.
