FOX 17 Morning News Names Mike Avery As New Co-Anchor
FOX 17 WXMI has named Mike Avery as the new FOX 17 Morning News Co-Anchor effective immediately. Mike joins co-anchor Sarah Brodhead, Meteorologist Jon Shaner, and Traffic Anchor Robb Westaby every Monday through Friday from 5am – 9am.
Mike has co-anchored FOX 17 Morning News on an interim basis since November 2009. He joined FOX 17 in June of 2005 as the co-anchor for the weekend edition of FOX 17 NEWS AT TEN. Prior to coming to FOX 17, Mike was an anchor/reporter in Savannah, Georgia.
“Mike has been a versatile and valued staff member here at FOX 17 for nearly five years,” said FOX 17 News Director, Tim Dye. “We’re lucky to have someone with his experience and his knowledge of West Michigan to fill this important role at our station.”

FOX 17 Morning News launched in August 2006 as a two hour newscast; in August of 2008 it was extended to four hours. FOX 17 Morning News became the first local newscast in the West Michigan market to be broadcast in high definition in April of 2009.
