Tim Dukes Named Vice President/Promotions for Tribune Broadcasting and Interactive
Tim Dukes has joined Tribune Company as vice president/promotions for its broadcasting and interactive divisions. During his 20-plus years in the media business, Dukes held on-air and management positions in the radio
industry in such markets as Tampa, Cincinnati, San Diego, Atlanta, and Chicago. He left radio and joined Wachovia Securities’ private client group in April 2007.
“Sean Compton, the SVP/programming for our broadcasting division, and I wanted one special person to lead our national promotional efforts online and on-air and to complement the existing product pros at Tribune,” said Marc Chase, Tribune Interactive president. “When that person wasn’t available, we went to Tim instead. We proudly told COO Randy Michaels that we didn’t go back to the radio well for this one — we actually got a guy from Wall Street!”
Dukes added, “I ignored Marc and Sean at first. I was finally in a respectable career and hoped they’d stop calling. Then they showed up in my office lobby, and like Jake and Elwood in The Blues Brothers restaurant scene, set out to embarrass me at work — tossing food into each others mouths, locking arms while eating shrimp cocktail, and talking in lousy French accents. I resigned on the spot just so they’d knock it off.”
