Classic Stooges, Benny Hill Marathons Set for Launch of Antenna TV
New Network to Debut on New Year’s Day on Multicast Stations Nationwide
50 million homes reached in first wave of station launches
Tribune Broadcasting is preparing to ring in 2011 with back-to-back marathons of classic TV shows The Three Stooges and Benny Hill on the new Antenna TV digital multicast network.
Antenna TV starts broadcasting at midnight, EST, on January 1, 2011 with more than 24 hours of The Three Stooges. The program lineup on Sunday, January 2, 2011 is built around a Benny Hill marathon.
“The New Year’s holiday weekend is a great time for viewers to have a laugh and settle in with great TV classics,” said Sean Compton, President of Programming for Tribune Broadcasting. “We can’t wait to share these great shows with audiences across the country.”
The network’s regular programming schedule, featuring a combination of movies and classic television shows including All in the Family, Sanford and Son, The Nanny, Married with Children, Maude, Good Times, Three’s Company, The Partridge Family and Burns & Allen begins on Monday, January 3, 2011. Legendary announcer Gary Owens is the voice of the channel.
Antenna TV will air on the digital channels of 19 Tribune Broadcasting stations in the U.S., including WPIX-TV (11.3) New York, KTLA-TV (5.2) Los Angeles, and WGN-TV (9.2) Chicago. Additional clearances include 13 LocalTV LLC affiliates and other stations nationwide totaling more than 50 million U.S. households.
