WGN Saturday & Sunday Morning News to be Anchored by Sean Lewis, Weather by Mike Hamernik
WGN Saturday and Sunday Morning News broadcasts will be anchored by Sean Lewis with weather by meteorologist Mike Hamernik. The live one-hour weekend morning newscasts launch on October 2 and 3 from 6-7am and will feature the latest news, weather, sports and other special features.
Award-winning journalist Sean Lewis joined CLTV in March 2007 and WGN-TV in June 2008. Sean came back home to the Chicago area after more than two years as weekend anchor at WWBT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia. His first job was in the chilly city of Fargo, North Dakota where he served as reporter. His moves also included reporter in Madison, Wisconsin and morning anchor in Rockford, Illinois. Sean is a native of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Mike Hamernik has been a member of the WGN-TV Weather Center team since 2005 and began his Chicago broadcast career in 2002 with CLTV. Prior to that, he was Chief Meteorologist at KTTC-TV (NBC) in Rochester, Minnesota from 1994 to 2001. Mike left Chicago to study meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
