New quarterly Sun Magazine debuts Sunday, September 12
The Baltimore Sun Media Group will launch Sun Magazine, a quarterly glossy magazine inserted in the September 12 edition of The Baltimore Sun. An online version will launch today at www.thesunmag.com. The magazine features articles focusing on health, wellness, fashion, home decor and entertainment.
“We are continually investing in our news content, and it seems fitting that we bring back something cherished from our past — the Sun Magazine,” said Mary J. Corey, senior vice president and director of content for The Baltimore Sun. “This quarterly magazine is a new showcase for eye-catching photography, lively writing, elegant design and more interaction with our online audience.”
The debut issue’s cover story, “Generation Rx,” profiles 10 doctors under 40 who are making a difference in local medicine. “Town & Country” covers former local news anchor Sally Thorner, her new life post-TV and her beautifully decorated homes in New York and Baltimore, while another feature, “Thoroughly Modern Julie,” reveals the Baltimore roots of “Modern Family” sitcom star Julie Bowen. The magazine also includes coming events in arts and entertainment and a photo feature on fall fashion trends.
Additional content can be found online at www.thesunmag.com, including an extensive photo gallery of Sally Thorner’s homes and a behind-the-scenes video at the fashion photo shoot. And throughout next week, the “doctors under 40” will answer reader questions on baltimoresun.com.
Advertiser response was strong for the debut issue, and advertisers have already made commitments for the November issue. Sun Magazine is the seventh new section The Baltimore Sun has launched in 2010, following Health & Style, Live! and Business & Jobs, which launched in February, and Sunrise, At Home and Maryland Business, which launched in June.
