FOX 17 to Host West Michigan Idol Event
FOX 17, West Michigan’s home for “American Idol”, will conduct the “West Michigan Idol Contest” Tuesday, August 10th at the Kentwood Fine Arts Auditorium at East Kentwood High School.
West Michigan Idol is a contest in which local talent will have the chance to audition in front of a panel of judges to become the West Michigan Idol. The grand prize winner will receive a guaranteed audition in front of “American Idol” producers on August 19th in San Francisco, CA, along with paid airfare and hotel accommodations to the San Francisco audition, for both the winner and a guest.
“We’re very excited to present the West Michigan Idol Contest,” said Travis Henkaline, Creative Services Director of FOX 17. “Last time the contest was extremely well received and we’re looking forward to hearing the best that West Michigan has to offer as they compete for this unique prize.”
Registration for the West Michigan Idol Contest is now closed. FOX 17 has confirmed all 350 participants who will sing a cappella for approximately thirty seconds in front of judges and will be evaluated on singing and stage presence.
Immediately following the contest the winner will be available for short interview opportunities in the auditorium. Please contact FOX 17 by 10:00 AM Monday, August 9th to be added to the media list.
The event will be held at the Kentwood Fine Arts Auditorium on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. On-site registration begins at 5:00 PM and the audition process will commence at 6:00 PM. Limited seating is available to the public on a first come first serve basis starting at 5:30 PM. Admission is free of charge.
