WGN Radio today announced its new daytime lineup featuring Mike McConnell and John Williams, effective Aug. 9. McConnell will host from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., followed by Williams from 12:30-3 p.m. Greg Jarrett will continue in morning drive-time from 5-8:30 a.m. and Garry Meier remains in afternoon drive-time from 3-7 p.m.
“Mike and John back-to-back make an extraordinarily strong team, and our listeners will be well-served with the best in news, information and engaging conversation,” said Tom Langmyer, WGN Radio’s vice president & general manager.
McConnell said, “I can’t wait to get started. WGN is one of America’s legendary radio stations and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
The new schedule will be enhanced by a new line-up for news anchors Jim Gudas, Steve Bertrand and Andrea Darlas; and traffic reporters Mary Van De Velde and Leslie Keiling, effective July 26:
- Gudas moves from afternoons to mornings.
- Bertrand reunites with his former on-air partner, John Williams, in the afternoon.
- Darlas brings her energy and personality to the afternoon/evening shift.
- Van De Velde returns to mornings, and Keiling reunites with Williams and Garry Meier in afternoons.
“I think I have done some of my best radio with Leslie Keiling and Steve Bertrand,” said Williams. “Getting the gang back together again will be great for us and the listeners.”
Williams also continues hosting a show for WCCO-AM in Minneapolis from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., which he broadcasts from the WGN Radio studios in Chicago.
