WGN-TV News Winner of the 2010 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for News Documentary
WGN News recently won the 2010 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for News Documentary of the year. Recipients of the award were WGN News anchor Steve Sanders, producer Pam Grimes and photojournalist Mike D’Angelo. The award honors exceptional achievements in electronic journalism since 1971.
WGN-TV News Director Greg Caputo commented “Congratulations to the team for their work creating this story of World War II veterans sharing their experiences for the first time. Pam, Steve and Mike brought to life the work being done by “Honor Flight Chicago” to acknowledge the sacrifices made by these members of the Greatest Generation during the war. They traveled with them to Washington, D.C. to see the war memorials and spent time with them in their Chicago homes to document their tales.”
