Tribune Media Services Teams with ThinkAnalytics to Showcase Intelligent Program Recommendations Solution for Cable Operators
Tribune Media Services (TMS), the leading provider of entertainment information databases, and ThinkAnalytics, a leading predictive analytics and content recommendations company, today announced they will team together on a demonstration for cable operators at the upcoming CableLabs Winter Conference. TMS will provide its robust entertainment metadata, currently deployed by more than 4,000 companies worldwide, for use in the ThinkAnalytics Content Recommendations Engine that will be showcased at the ThinkAnalytics booth during the event which runs February 8 – 9, 2010.
The ThinkAnalytics Recommendations Engine helps entertainment consumers find and watch the content they’ll enjoy most. It provides comprehensive recommendations using powerful real-time analytics, true personalization and behavioral modeling techniques, including intelligent search and full business rules capability. Recommendations are based on an individual’s implicit and explicit preferences and apply equally well to linear TV and video-on-demand.
Using TMS data, the deepest, most connected entertainment data available, the ThinkAnalytics engine applies an automated analytic approach and advanced algorithmic techniques to provide consumers a highly optimized entertainment experience and the opportunity for cable operators to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and customer retention.
“The ThinkAnalytics Recommendations Engine has yielded exceptional results by broadening viewers’ consumption and facilitating entertainment content discovery across all of the customer touch points: set-top box, mobile device, web, customer call center,” said Eddie Young, CEO, ThinkAnalytics. “This is a crucial time for cable operators to prove their value to subscribers and we are proud to work with TMS in showing them how they can achieve tangible results with the best recommendations for the individual and the context.”
“We look forward to working with ThinkAnalytics as they demonstrate their Content Recommendations Engine,” said Jay Fehnel, Vice President of TMS’ Entertainment Products division. “Many cable operators are evaluating new ways to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty and, ultimately, revenue. We know that robust metadata, combined with innovative recommendations engines, will help our customers reach their business goals.”
TMS metadata powers the leading television and movie guide products which reach millions of consumers in 40 countries through clients including Microsoft, Google, TiVo, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, IMDb and The New York Times.
