WGN Radio Announces Changes to Sales Leadership
WGN Radio today announced that Director of Sales Wendi Power has accepted a position with Cox Radio in Tampa, Florida, where she has been named General Manager of three FM stations, which are part of their market cluster. “WGN has been the most wonderful radio station in the world to work for,” said Power. “I’m so blessed to have had the chance to spend 15 years of my career here. The station is bigger than life.”
Power joined the station as an account executive in 1995 and was promoted to local sales manager in 1998, followed by her promotion to director of sales five years later.
WGN VP/General Manager, Tom Langmyer immediately announced the station’s new sales management structure.
Power is succeeded by Local Sales Manager Jeff Hill, who was today appointed Director of Sales. Hill joined WGN Radio as Local Sales Manager in 2006. Previously, he was General Sales Manager at WZZN-FM and Local Sales Manager at WLS-AM. “WGN Radio has a long history of tremendous talent behind the mic and behind the scenes,” said Hill. “I am honored by the opportunity to continue the great tradition of leadership of this sales team.”
Matt Munro, who joined the station as an account executive in 2004, was named Local Sales Manager. Prior to coming to WGN Radio, Munro was founder and president of Modrox Inc., a music promotion company based in Los Angeles. “I am looking forward to embracing this challenge and working with the strong team already in place,” said Munro. “I firmly believe the station is in strong position to build upon its tradition of winning and am thrilled to be a part of writing the next great chapter in the legacy of this incredible station.”
Langmyer added: “We are very fortunate to have benefited from Wendi’s leadership, creativity and passion. We’ll miss her and wish her the best.” He also stated “Jeff Hill and Matt Munro are experienced and excellent leaders. They’re more than ready for the challenge, so we won’t miss a beat.”
