WGN-TV First in Chicago to Stream Newscasts
Starting Monday, February 22, WGN-TV will be the first TV station in Chicago to offer iPhone users the ability to watch live streams of WGN-TV newscasts.
“Our staff has been working very hard to reach this goal,” commented Greg Caputo, WGN News Director. “As viewers become increasingly mobile in their needs and viewing habits, the ability to allow viewers to watch our newscasts live on their iPhones is a huge first step. WGN-TV is committed to reaching our viewers on-air, online and on-the-go.”
Starting Monday, when viewers click on the wgntv.com home page via their iPhone, they will be able to click on a link that allows them to watch live streams of the following WGN-TV newscasts:
· WGN Morning News: 6am-9am
· WGN Midday News: 11am-1pm
· WGN Evening News: 5pm-6pm
WGN-TV began streaming the WGN Midday News and the WGN Evening News online at WGNtv.com in 2009. Since launching the WGNtvmobile website in May 2009, page views and unique visitors have grown to more than 250,000 page views and 175,000 unique visitors each month.
