CHICAGO, March 8, 2007 — WGN Morning News weatherman Paul Konrad and WGN Morning News anchor Robin Baumgarten will host WGN-TV’s annual telecast of The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Chicago on Saturday, March 17 from 12 noon–2 pm CT. WGN News reporter Ana Belaval will serve as street reporter. Additional WGN News reporters will also appear on the WGN-TV float. The live coverage will air on WGN-TV 9 and WGN-DT 9.1 in Chicago and nationally on Superstation WGN.
This year’s parade theme is entitled “Pro Deo et Patria – For God and Country.” The parade route will travel along Columbus Drive from Balbo to Monroe in Chicago’s Grant Park. The 52nd annual parade will feature sensational floats, specialty bands and Irish Step dancers.
WGN-TV’s association with The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Chicago dates back to 1956 when it carried the very first parade. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Chicago Committee and the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130 U.A. have sponsored the event for the last 51 years.
