WGN-TV Announces 2008 Chicago White Sox Broadcast Schedule
CHICAGO, February 6, 2008 –WGN-TV announced today its 2008 broadcast schedule for the Chicago White Sox. WGN-TV will produce 56 Chicago White Sox baseball telecasts, including 31 games to air on WGN-TV and 25 games to air on WCIU. This year, all regular season White Sox games on WGN-DT and WCIU-DT will be broadcast in HDTV. A complete WGN-TV/WCIU White Sox broadcast schedule is attached. All games are CST.
Wednesday 4/9 is opening night at U.S. Cellular Field as the Southsiders take on Minnesota. The Yankees are in town for their only Chicago visit this season on Thursday 4/24, and WGN has the series finale. The White Sox take on the San Francisco Giants in the city by the bay on WGN 5/17 at 8pm.
The two cross-town classic series against the Cubs this year are only one week apart, with WGN once again carrying both Friday games on June 20 at Wrigley Field and June 27 at U.S. Cellular Field.
2008 interleague opponents will include the Pirates on 6/17, a ’59 World Series rematch against the Dodgers on 6/25, and a series against the defending National League Champion Colorado Rockies on 6/14. The White Sox will take on the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox on 8/9, 8/11 and 8/30.
The broadcast team of play-by-play announcer Ken “Hawk” Harrelson and analyst Darrin Jackson begins their ninth season together on WGN-TV and WCIU. The WGN Sports Emmy Award-Winning production team will produce all WGN-TV and WCIU White Sox games.
