Red Hot Cubs Deliver Highest May Rating in 17 Years on WGN-TV
CHICAGO, May 29, 2008 –Last night’s late-inning heroics as the Cubs swept the Dodgers delivered the highest-rated May Cubs game in the past 17 years on WGN-TV with an 11.3 HH rating/ 18.7 HH share. The game peaked at a 16.6 HH rating/ 25.2 HH share.

The last time the Cubs delivered this high a May rating was in May of 1991, when the Cubs faced the Mets. Last night’s game was also the highest-rated game since the Cubs/Pirates game on September 14, 2004.
The Cubs 32-21 record gives them a 1.5 game lead in the N.L. Central Division over St. Louis and a tie for the best record in all of baseball. Rookie Geovany Soto leads all National League catchers in early voting for the All-Star game. The last Cubs rookie to be selected to the All-Star team was Sam “Toothpick” Jones in 1955. Additionally, Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome are in 1st and 2nd respectively for N. L. outfielders in early All-Star balloting by fans.
