TV Journalist Susan Lennon to Anchor Fox 5 News at Ten Weekends
SAN DIEGO, June 10, 2008 –KSWB-TV is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Susan Lennon as the weekend anchor for the station’s new “Fox 5 News at Ten”. Set to debut on August 1, 2008 and airing seven nights a week, “Fox 5 News at Ten” will be a 1-hour local newscast covering all of San Diego and produced entirely in High Definition. “Fox 5 News at Ten” will be joined weekdays by the 4-hour “Fox 5 Morning News”.
Susan Lennon is well known to San Diego news viewers from her many years covering the market. Recognizable from her anchoring and hosting at local station KUSI-TV, Susan served as 10:00 PM evening news anchor beginning in 1999 through 2003 and then served as
co-host of “Good Morning San Diego” through 2006. In these roles Ms. Lennon covered the top news stories of the day, and also conducted hundreds of interviews of prominent local, state and national newsmakers from politics, sports, business and many other areas.
During her tenure in San Diego Ms. Lennon received recognition as six-time host of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, as well as earning a regional Emmy for her profile of the MDA Goodwill Ambassador. On December 15, 2006, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders declared that day as “Susan Lennon Day” in San Diego.
Prior to San Diego, Susan worked at NBC affiliate KPRC-TV in Houston as a reporter and weekend anchor. While there Ms. Lennon traveled abroad to cover stories in Macedonia, the Arabian Gulf, Bosnia, Iraq and aboard the USS Nimitz overseas. Susan’s work earned honors for “Street Reporter of the Year”, “Special Report of the Year”, “Spot News Reporting” and more. In 2006 Susan was selected to co-host the nationally syndicated Montel Williams show in New York.
Susan has been active in the San Diego community working with Meals on Wheels, Partnership With Industry helping the disabled, Celebration of Champions, the American Heart Association and others. Ms. Lennon received her B.A in Journalism with honors from Menlo College and later completed the Graduate Studies Journalism Program at Stanford University.
