September 15th WGN-TV News Launches WGN Evening News at 5:30pm and WGN Midday News at 11:30pm
CHICAGO, September 11, 2008 –WGN-TV will begin broadcasting its new evening and midday news programs on Monday, September 15, 2008.
The launch of WGN Evening News, 5:30-6pm weekdays, marks a foray into the evening news market and a first for WGN News. The show will be anchored by Mark Suppelsa and Allison Payne with WGN-TV chief meteorologist Tom Skilling providing in-depth weather reports. The broadcast will air in the Chicago market only.
WGN Midday News, airing 11:30am-1pm, will be anchored by Steve Sanders and Micah Materre with weather reports from WGN-TV chief meteorologist Tom Skilling. The first half-hour of WGN Midday News (11:30am – 12 noon) will air locally and the noon-1pm hour will continue to air nationally.
Currently, WGN News is the #1 rated news program in households morning, noon and nine. With the September 2008 launch of the additional newscasts, WGN News will produce 37 hours of local news a week including WGN Morning News, WGN Midday News, WGN Evening News and WGN News at Nine.
