GRAND RAPIDS, September 30, 2008 –FOX 17 WXMI has hired Steve Amorose as a Sports reporter/anchor for FOX 17 News at Ten effective October 3, 2008.
Prior to coming to FOX 17, Steve was the Sports Director at KAWE-TV Lakeland News in Bemidji, Minnesota for a year. Before he moved out of Michigan, Steve earned a Masters of Art degree at Central Michigan University’s School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, where he also worked as a Graduate Assistant for News Central 34, CMU’s daily news station, and as a feature reporter for CMU Public Television.
“We’re glad to have Steve join our team”, said FOX 17 News Director Tim Dye. “He’s very familiar with the Michigan sports scene and will add depth to our local sports coverage.”
Steve, originally from the Detroit area, went to Adrian College where he studied Communications and played baseball. He was also the play-by-play announcer for the Adrian College football broadcasts on WLEN-FM for two years.
