CHICAGO, October 6, 2008 –In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, WGN-TV 9 (WGN-DT 9.1) will air “Stories of Hope: Facing Breast Cancer,” a live one-hour locally produced program on Saturday, October 18 at 6pm CT. WGN-TV Medical Reporter Dina Bair and WGN Morning News reporter Dean Richards will host the special that will feature inspiring survivor stories. The WGN Radio version of the show, which Richards hosts annually, has won the award for “Best Local Public Affairs Program” from the Illinois Broadcasters Association for the past several years.
WGN Morning News reporter Valerie Warner will report from the live phone-bank, which will be staffed by healthcare professionals and counselors who will answer viewer questions and concerns about breast cancer.
“Stories of Hope: Facing Breast Cancer” will include a discussion with doctors and healthcare professionals about advancements in diagnosis and treatments, as well as how to regain your life after a diagnosis.
