The 33 KDAF-TV Receives Lone Star Emmy Award for Community Service
DALLAS, October 23, 2008 –The Lone Star EMMY Chapter, part of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, has honored The 33 (KDAF-TV) with this year’s EMMY for Community Service. The award recognizes the “A Child To Love” adoption campaign and was given to Vice President/General Manager Joseph A. Young and The 33 News anchor Terri Chappell. The awards were presented in Houston on Saturday, October 18th. The 33 was the only station even nominated in the category this year.
The “A Child To Love” campaign partners Fort Worth’s Gladney Center for Adoption with The 33. Each Monday on The 33 News, anchor Terri Chappell profiles a child available for adoption. Since its inception in September 2005, this campaign has placed 88 children in “forever loving” homes.
Vice President /General Manager Joe Young said, “We feel this is such an important partnership and are honored to receive this award. This is just one of the many ways we are giving back the Dallas/Fort Worth community.”
