WSFL-TV Hires Director of Local Programming for New Morning Show and Website
South Florida, December 10, 2008–Sun Sentinel Publisher and WSFL-TV General Manager, Howard Greenberg, announced today that Jose Suarez has been named Director of Local Programming for its new morning news show, SouthFlorida.com LIVE, and website.
Greenberg said, “We are thrilled to have someone with Jose’s news director experience and strong digital media background leading the charge for our new morning show and website.” He went on to say, “It’s this type of momentum that signals Tribune’s dedication to new ways of growing its business in this challenging media environment.”
In the past 11 years Suarez has held a variety of roles in television around the country. His previous experience includes News Director for the FOX affiliate in Toledo, OH, as well as News Director for the NBC affiliate in San Angelo, Texas, where he created and managed all aspects of the start-up news organization. His most recent role at WTVJ NBC6 and WSCV Telemundo 51 in Miami, FL involved developing a variety of original programming for their web channels. In his new position with WSFL-TV, Suarez will have responsibilities for both the new morning show launching in 2009, as well as its website.
As a South Florida native, Suarez joins the WSFL-TV team with great enthusiasm for SouthFlorida.com LIVE’s unique approach. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work in a truly multi-platform environment,” he said. “We’re going to create something very special with this morning news show and website.”
