HOUSTON, March 3, 2009 –Channel 39/KIAH-TV announced plans today to launch a 24-hour sports network on their digital broadcast tier. The Universal Sports Television Network will premiere Monday, March 16 on digital channel 39.2.
The Universal Sports Television Network, a joint venture between NBC Sports and Intermedia Partners, offers more than 2,000 live events and over 5,000 hours of annual original event programming each year. Universal Sports provides fans comprehensive coverage of more than 40 sports. Major championships and Olympic qualifying events broadcast on Universal Sports range from track & field, swimming, skiing, gymnastics and cycling, to volleyball, karate, marathons, taekwondo and speed skating.

The Universal Sports Television Network will premiere in Houston on Monday, March 16 and will broadcast 24 hours a day on digital channel 39.2.
